Jill and Jillane are family photographers based in the Savannah GA area with over 25 years of family photography experience.

We get it. Family portraits can be a daunting task.

Dad is less than thrilled about taking family pictures, the kids didn’t nap (or woke up cranky), and you have absolutely no idea what you’re going to wear…or the 4 other people you’re responsible for dressing. We’ve been there, got that t-shirt.

Maybe daunting was an understatement? However, if you’re like us, moms ourselves, you know the time at home is slipping ever so quietly away. And every time you rock that little chubby legged boy to bed, you wonder if this time will be the last. This season of parenting is exhausting, hard, rewarding, exceptionally good, and crazy all the same.

And while family photos might be on the bottom of the to-do list (that is till you receive over-achiever Pamela’s Christmas Card the first week of November), you know family photos are important. You just get to us, and we’ll take care of the rest. With over 25 years of successful portraits, there’s no grim-faced family member we can’t handle. We got this. Promise.

Ordering Appointment

Approximately 2 weeks after your session we will schedule your ordering appointment. Sit back, breathe deep, and grab a tissue. You’re gonna need it. In our state of the art software, we’ll view your images together in studio in a stunningly moving slideshow. We’ll sort, narrow, and size your portraits for the perfect spaces in your home.

delivery

After your portraits are finished, we’ll call for pickup. If you prefer home delivery and installation, we can do that too! Because let’s be honest, hanging framed pictures with your spouse is a lot like hanging curtains together….a honey to-do list nightmare. Don’t worry. We got you on this one.

How far in advance should I book?

The sooner, the better! If you are planning a session during our peak months between September-November contact us 3 to 4 months in advance. We do sometimes have cancellations so reach out even if you are needing something much sooner.

Is Artwork or digital files included in my session fee?

We firmly believe you should see your images before committing to any artwork or digital files. After each session, you return to the studio for your design and ordering appointment where you choose what you need. Whether you decide to purchase a little or a lot at your in-person ordering appointment, it’s all up to you…just as much as you love! We can’t promise that you won’t cry happy tears when you see your images for the first time (we know we’re terrible…but it’s really that sweet life you’re building that brings those tears. Ohhhhk, and maybe there’s some sappy good music in there too. Whoopsies!)

What should we wear?

Our number one rule is to start with mama. Find something you feel great in and then work around that. Go to your kids next, and Dad last. We love helping our clients be sure about outfits so feel free to share them with us beforehand.

What if it rains on the day of the photoshoot?

Savannah, GA weather can change throughout the day many times (especially during the summertime). We never panic over rain on the radar (unless a hurricane is headed our way…and then we all headed out!) on the day of your savannah photos. As seasoned Savannah, GA Family photographers we know waiting an hour or two before your family photo session is the best option to make a final decision.

Where do you take your family portraits?

Us, girls, here at Shuman Fine Art Photography are born and raised right here in Savannah. We have our favorite spots in Downtown Savannah, Isle of Hope, The Landings, Tybee Island beach, and Palmetto Bluff. We, also, travel to client homes if in the area.
